WESTON Makes a Difference …
Supporting Clients and Communities in the Aftermath of Hurricane Katrina
Response – Our
clients turn to us in times of trouble. As engineers, contractors,
scientists and other environmental professionals, we pride ourselves
on meeting and exceeding the needs of our strategic clients.
As individuals, we are strengthened by a bond of compassion and
commitment to humanity. WESTON began supporting emergency response
efforts in the devastated Gulf Coast region within 48 hours of
Hurricane Katrina.
Recovery and Redevelopment – WESTON employees and subcontractors are in the Gulf Coast region conducting emergency response actions to help our clients rebuild their communities. Support includes:
- Sampling and assessment activities involving water, mold, sediment, air, wastewater, and facilities
- Cleanup, renovation and disposal activities
- Health and safety briefing, assessment and coordination
- Reconnaissance
- Emergency response actions at facilities posing immediate threat
- Data collection and development of information technology systems to enhance clean-up efforts
Reassurance – WESTON’s
1,800 employees contributed $150,000 through a corporate matching
campaign to the Red Cross Hurricane Relief Fund – the largest
single giving campaign in the history of our company. Employees
continue to donate time away from family on a rotating basis
in support of Hurricane Katrina response activities. Boxes of
non-perishable food supplies, clothing, quilts, shoes, diapers
and other items are mailed weekly. Fundraising continued throughout
the 2005 holiday season to provide meals and reassurance to those
in need.
Ask any WESTON employee-owner and you will learn that the challenges we face and the contributions we make collectively as a company are the most rewarding part of belonging to the WESTON family.
